Design preview: how an article will look
Not reporting. This page is a working preview of the article layout, published so it can be reviewed on real hardware before the first real story runs.
This is not a news story. It is the article template, filled with enough real material to be judged properly, and published here because a layout can only really be reviewed on the device someone will read it on.
It is marked `noindex`, so it stays out of Google, out of the sitemap, out of the Google News feed and out of the RSS feed. It will be deleted before the first real article runs.
The photograph runs once, under the headline
The headline, the standfirst and the byline open the page on the ivory ground, at the width of the text, the way the Post sets a story. The story's lead still then runs the full width of the page, square-cornered, with its caption and its credit under it. A piece with no still goes straight from the byline to the body; nothing stands in for the frame.
Stills carry a caption and a credit
Every figure gets a credit line whether or not the writer typed one. An uncredited photograph on a newsroom built around chain of custody is a contradiction, so the build fills in ARX TV by default and the writer overrides it when the frame is someone else's.
A caption should describe what is visible in the frame and claim nothing else. If we cannot show where it was taken, we do not say where it was taken.
Footage plays on our own servers
Clips are self-hosted. An embedded YouTube or Vimeo player would be blocked outright by this site's own security policy, and the privacy policy promises readers no third-party content anywhere on arxtv.com, so the build refuses an off-site video URL rather than shipping an empty box.
The clip below is a placeholder built from the still at the top of this page, not footage. It is here to show the player, the poster frame and the caption line, and nothing more.
Posts are quoted, not embedded
A quoted post keeps its words even after the original is deleted or the account locks. The block below is the same shape a real one would take.
This is a placeholder for a quoted post. ARX TV quotes posts rather than embedding them: an embed empties itself the day the account deletes it, and this page would lose its evidence.
